rebuilding my thermoquad and cleaned it up real nicely, but after it sits for a few days, that raw aluminum turns to this nasty dull white look. Wondering what you can put on the top plate to preserve the looks after cleaning it up? I tried clear coating my last one and the clear coat just turned yellow from the fuel...Anyone have any secrets?

Light coat of clear paint.
There is also a clear used by electrical guys who rebuilt alternators and starters. That aerosol works well. Not sure of the name but if you call a rebuilder I bet they can help you.

There might be a anodizer/plater nearby you . I just got a quote to anodize some dirtbike fork tubes and a shock body for 75$. There is also Vapor coating. Its worth checking out .

I think you will find any type of clear paint will turn yellow, just a matter of time. You don't see much of the airhorn once the a/cleaner is on.

opti coat or sharkhide

Don't laugh, WD-40 and a tooth brush. Won't last forever but will for several months
It's a pain to do and clean up,but works.

I’m not sure. I haven’t seen it in person. It’s supposed to be from a 76 dart sport 360. It was also bought for that same application. I’ll put it on and tune it for the guy that bought it in probably late April or early may. Depends when spring comes. Kim

I have a couple of those 6568's, trying to get my Ford friend to try one on something.
when i first put my 440 dart together, i needed a carb, so went to junkyard and asked if they had any chrysler 4 barrels and they brought out the thermoquad 6568s and an old AVS..i bought the thermoquad. stuck it on and it ran very good. Later found out is was originally for the 1974 ford 460.

Yeah 9800x were universal fit 800 'Super Quad'.
The #6568 had increeeedibly lean sec jets, 0.098". Smaller than the pri jets, 0.101". Go figure how that works!! #2014 rods 069/054/040.

I am waiting for a special order 850 TQ from Summit. Recond, 6000 series & from memory it was under $200.

Also, the 6568 had the screw in small 1/8 NPT fuel filter that Ford used and then it was on a 460! Beware those mass rebuilt TQ's most always have a mismatch of components. I won't even look at a TQ if it has one of those little rebuilder stickers on it.
