Trans fluid. 727

****, I put two gallons in all my fresh ones. lol
Same here, I guess I've been lucky all these years. lol
The only time I had a transmission failure is when I didn't engage the convertor to the pump, sheared the ears at startup. lol
I was 14 years old at the time, lesson learned. lol
FWIW I use type F fluid. someone told me to years ago.

you pour 2gallons in and then start it ?

Yup. Always have. 904 or 727 either one. It never fills them completely up, but it also never allows them to run dry. It's only 8 quarts. Every Torqueflite I've ever seen takes more then that.

727 takes about 8 to 9.5 quarts depending on which convertor it has and up to 11 with deep pan.

some guys like to make things way more complicated than it is .
Couldn’t agree more. Will run dry? Where in the hell do think 8
Qts is going to go? I quest I’ve have really been lucky than for 49 years the way I was taught. Cause I have never burnt one up. In 72-76 at a shop that we did all the work on Hillsborough County Sheriffs cars which were alL SB and BB Coronets. They went thru torgueflites like most people go they tires. I NEVER LOST ONE STARTING With 5 qts and adding 3 more after start up. your making way to much of this!

More than half of the transs that come in with a burnt forward clutch also have a scuffed converter... If your converter is scuffed where it rides in the pump bushing; well, now you know why. Converters that were never ran low show NO signs of wear. I had this one idiot who followed some silly advice...his converter was worn down about 1/16" all the way around. Sometimes I think transmissions should have an oil pressure gauge just like a motor, so folks can see what's really going on. The problem with bad advice is that it works SOME of the time.
