Stop in for a drink.

Well, we were only supposed to get an inch of snow today but we got 4” of heavy wet snow instead. Fortunately it stayed above freezing and ended with an hour of rain so there was only about 2” on the ground by late this afternoon to clean up.

My 16 year old daughter insisted that she do it alone because she wanted to get a workout. Then when she was done, she decided it wasn’t enough of a workout and went down the street and did the elderly neighbors house that we cleared yesterday.

Good girl, I’m proud of you...and tonight I raise my glass in toast!

Cheers!

I haven't had this for ages. Nice deep rich color. High rye, lots of spice. Smooth for 101 proof.

So here is my next experiment and a blind buy (kind of) . TMM you have to google Editions Spirits to find it. Then they run down what they offer. Looks to be very popular in UK not so much here. Only 220 bottles made of this one. Can’t wait to try it!

I usually only have one or 2 bottles of whiskey around. Just finished the 1792 the other day. Deciding what next. Following along with all this tasting and learning some of the differences is very interesting. Didn't realize the 1792 is a 'high rye'. Also considering trying scotch (highland -not the one that tastes like dirt ). Haven't had any of that in a long time. I can't afford a cabinet full of testers like some... Would be cheaper for me to fly out and test all of Toolmans stash, LOL. Decisions decisions.

Come on out. Welcome any time.

I think Ted and I will go shopping this afternoon. I have some Pay Pal money to burn.

Yep we went shopping. All 4 are different and good! And I tried Powers at Ted's a week or so ago. Pretty smooth forthe price. I had to have a bottle.

I have heard good things about the Laws Bourbon but have never tried it?
A little spendy (around $70) different but really good. As usual the nose changes with time as does the taste. Smoke, dark fruits, chocolate, a little orange. Complex and fun to sip on over a half hour.

I will pick some up, some day in preparation for Bens next visit. I have several of his favorites on the shelf. He does like a good bourbon. To me being a neophyte taster, Bourbon amazes me at just how broad the spectrum in flavor is. It can be really really rough and super smooth. I am still learning but Bourbon confuses the heck out of me with its diversity.

Yep, me too. Every bottle is different. Look at Buffalo Trace distillery. Many of their labels are the same mash bill but just different ages, rick houses, and locations in those rickhouses. They are very consistent with their barrels and procedures. A lower floor makes for better bourbon. In front of a window makes a difference over a few years. (and the like)

So, as I understand it, Rick has bourbon all over in his house...

Looks like the only way I can get B.T. products in PA is order them online. Saw none on the shelf.

After seeing it mentioned more than once here, I went with Elijah Craig small batch today. (Not the fancy stuff in TMM's pic above.) Enjoying my first glass. I haven't got the whole tasting note thing figured out, but definitely big vanilla hit on the nose to start...

Good on ya! I agree on the tasting notes thing. TMM has been schooling me but it is like they talk a foreign language. If I am sitting there and sipping while they explain it I can connect the dots, but when it is just me and the hound in the shop and I try, well not so much! I have learned a lot tho. One thing I know for sure is Whiskey is like tattoos Cheap whiskey ain’t good and good whiskey ain’t cheap.

I promised the wife that I would quit drinking for three days... Feb 29, 30, & 31....

I will resume drinking on Mar 1st....
