I noticed that the factory dust shields are not painted, they look to be galvanized.
Has anyone painted their shields? If so what paint did you use?
These things must get pretty hot.

IIRC around 1990 I used black BBQ paint on the ones I put on my '67 Barracuda.
On another vehicle I touched them up with some high temp paint after one developed a crack. Moderately high temp paint - not the stuff that has to be heated to several hundred degrees to cure.

I don't think they do anything unless you run your classic in the winter..or gravel?
Most guys 'turf them!

Do you recall which clear you used? I like that idea

VHT has a nice gloss clear product, a high temperature 'caliper, drum, rotor' paint good to 900 f. - - pn. CSP730. They also offer a very high temp. ceramic cast-iron gray rated at up to 2000 f. - - pn. CSP998.
I've used both, either in tandem or separately. I've had many other 1200 degree paints and clears before in a variety of brands. Just search around.

I used Cast Blast. I'm happy with the way it looks.

Leaving them off will help to keep the rotors cool unless your planning on driving off-road in dirt and rocks.

Honestly it was just a cheap rattle can clear from Walmart or one of the parts stores. Nothing special. They still look good a couple years in and it’s easy to wipe them down when I put in the air for oil changes, etc.

I do not believe that they get very hot, air is moving all around them, they are water and debris shields. Paint them with what ever color you like.

I just painted them with some Duplicolor metallic gray, turned out nice.
