/6 to 5.9 magnum questions

Hello everyone, after browsing around endlessly as a gues on here i decided to create an account and ask some questions i have.

Going to be swapping out my slant 6 in my 72 scamp for a 5.9 magnum. Im hoping to get an engine in the next couple weeks and start gathering everything needed for my swap.

So i plan on running a carborated v belt system. I know mostly everything i need to get for the swap (thanks to FABO)

My biggest question right now is exhaust manifolds. Im doing this on a budget so TTI and dougs headers are off the table for now. I looked into the summit G9040 headers but not sure i want to take on that headache. So i read a few posts regarding using magnum manifolds. Can somebody explain which magnum manifolds i would need to look for for both Passenger and drivers side. And yes i am planning on keeping my power steering

Will my slant 6 power steering pump work on the 5.9?

Thanks in advance!!!
Being over 60 now and can’t remember s..t I went to check to see if I had the slant pump after my conversion yes
How ever I got a full pump/bracket and pump from a 360 which I put on the magnum So I can’t really tell you if the slant pump will work. I can tell you that I had to have a custom hose for the pump as it was too close to the Schumacher motor mount kit and thus providing little belt adjustment.
The other issue I ran into was the oil pan. The magnum pan won’t work in ur situation so what you need is a la pan
There is a gap at the front left of the pan I “made” a sandwich gasket from gasket material and epoxy. If you are unsure you could have the lip welded and grind smooth to fit your app. The trickiest thing will getting the converter/flex plate/balancer tight Be sure to have the correct flex plate balancer and torque converter or you will have balance problems. If I remember correctly the balance situation up to 96 was different than 97 on. I used the factory flex plate a neutral balance converter and a professional products balancer. You will probably find that there will be some washers involved to get the alt etc. aligned. Also if you want to keep a mechanical fuel pump you will need an la timing cover and fuel pump “boss” to put on the cam . Considering what others hav had to do in other transplants it was a piece of cake!
Good luck!
