-
Wasn’t mine but a guy brought his slant six dart in got a tune up he had just bought it
Back cylinder was completely dead zero compression
Who ever he had bought it from had removed the piston and rod!
As much as I hate to admit it when I worked at a buy here pay here car lot yeats ago we mixed gear oil and saw dust together to quiet a manual trans
We got another car the auction that had a deep knock, rod bearing, we cut a piece of leather to fit and sent him on his way

Saw dust in rearend too to quiet. Today peaple drain the radiator completely if the head gasket is blown but keep the overflow bottle at correct level. When veiwing and running before the auction it won't smoke. Always remove the Radiator cap and check for coolant.

Cheap build squashed.
1976 Senior in HS. My 1st car my dad scored for my mom to teach her to drive. 1968 Dodge Dart covertable for $50 buck in a Junkyard that needed an alt ! Top had a tear (duct tape). She wanted no part of driving so I paid my Dad $70. At Highschool a guy has a beatup B5 blue 68 GTS 383 4 speed. I bought it for $75 ! Me and my friends waited for Saturday when my Dad left to work and ripped the drivetrains out to swap. He came home early and stopped it. Said I'd kill myself. He contacted a guy in a Mopar club in Nahant Ma. and they all started showing up and bought everything. I made $600 ! But my Ragtop was apart and I had to reassemble myself ( where are my friends now lol) taking me a month before I could drive it again. Later that year I bought a 273/904 from a friend for $50 and mickey moused it to the Kframe until finally I bought correct frame. Then sold it after my dad painted it got $800 and bought a 72 Demon 340/4spd. for $1100.
Those were the days, lol.

And the one that got away...
1971 Cuda Convertible, 28,000miles, 383 4-barrell , auto, Factory orange seats , console, 355.1 Suregrip ,am/fm/eight track, full rallye gauges. I followed this one for 10 years as it slowly rotted out under those maples. Owner was going to restore it someday. I moved away for a year and when I came back it had been sold..for $2000.00!! Found it a couple of years ago hidden outside under tarps, new owner never got around to restoring it. By then it was too far gone for me . He finally sold it to a guy in Switzerland for $25,000.00 US.

Sorry , didn't mean to hijack your thread!!
