In 1965 the factory used metal exhaust gaskets with built in heat shields which were used on both driver and passenger sides as far as I know (at least they are still in place on the '65 Signet convertible here in the back yard-see photos 1 & 2).
The gaskets I found in my two complete overhaul sets (see photos #6 & #7) don't even come close. And what are all those pointless four more holes and extra material running along the bottom of the gasket (see photos #3, #4, #5)? Is there a better fitting gasket out there? At this point, no gasket at all might even seal better. Thank you.
