They are advertised to fit 1966-1970 B body. Will it fit A bodies? I can’t see there being any difference. Has anyone used them on A bodies? The crossmember looks like a real nice piece.

Bet it doesnt fit. B bodies are different.

So you don’t know. Transmission tunnels and crossmembers should all be the same. They all housed the same transmissions. All the same dimensions from motor mounts to engine mounts. Similar firewall locations.
Please don’t answer if you don’t actually know. Been working on Mopar for 35 Years and can’t see why there would be a difference. Holley may not know 100% because they fitted it for a B body and don’t want to say until they actually fit it to an A body.

Modtopcuda, no need to explain how many years you been working on these things. This isnt a pissing contest. However if you wish it to be one. Here ya go. I worked on 66-70 B body stuff for years since about 1985 before moving to A bodies around 2006. B body hole spacing to mount this thing is farther apart than A body. Sure they all used the same transmissions, but that doesnt mean the trans mount or torsion bar crossmembers are the same. You been working on MoPars for 35 years and cant see why it wont fit? Your saying "tunnels and crossmembers should all be the same". Your words, not mine. That tells me your the one who really doesnt know. Well I ******* do. Spacing for bolt holes is different from A to B body. Take that as you wish.

You don't have any idea WTF you are talking about

He asked. I answered. He dont like my answer, he can go buy it and find out it wont fit. Maybe redrill the holes in new spots on the damn thing with a unibit and hope for the best.

Cut off wheel, drill and a welder will make it fit.. as many of us have been doing for many years. I don't know about you guys but probably 75% of the crap that the manufacturer says will fit doesn't.

You are correct MoparMatt2000,

Here's a side by side comparison. Top pic is B Body. Although the center section is similar. the end section is different probably because floor pan between A and B body is different. Much longer spacing between bolt holes.

Holly does not show an A-Body Blackheart crossmember , probably because there is no demand for it. If it was an item there was a market for, I'm pretty sure they would make it.

I could make a Chev crossmember work with a drill, cut-off wheel and a welder LOL !!

Ya, you can probably "make" it fit. But for $170, I sure as hell wouldent be drilling extra holes in it and making it fit.

Also the spacing between the torsion bars is wider on a B body than an A body, theres more room to increase bolt spacing and spread out the load. A body A904s and A833s were also a short tailshaft transmission. B bodies used a longer tailshaft trans so they werent exactly the same transmissions. Wasnt a Chevy Nova pull out the inline 6 and drop in a small block and use everything off the 6 including the transmission kinda thing. If nothing else Chrysler made everything different for each car line it seems lol.
