Another reason not to like new cars.

Plastic heater cams that strip teeth and suddenly no heat on driver's side. Not even defrost. Dealer says dash has to come out.

Automatic door locks that cannot be disabled, and and power windows that cannot be locked off; these require me to be 100% sure that when I get out of the vehicle, that the key goes with me. I live in a rural setting, and this is a constant PITA for me, especially as I get older ..............

Remote keyfobs that require the doors to be locked, before the car will start. It's just one more thing I am forced to remember, and forced to undo; Someone else has decided for me, what I HAVE to do; instead of it being a feature, it is a power-trip for the programmer, and a constant source of aggravation to me.
My car has so many different sounds that it makes, and so many icons that light up on the dash, and so many things the computer is doing besides fueling and timing;
that there is no way for me to keep up with them all, so I just drive the stinking thing. I suppose it will tell me, when it is about to blow up

But the one thing, the really useful thing, that it could be doing,but does not, that I would really appreciate; is to tell me when it has burned a quart of oil away, and needs to be topped up. I still gotta open the hood and pull the dipstick, just as as I did on my ancient technology first car, a 57 Belair.
Seventy years later, and my 2014 Orlando, still has to be dipped, ain't technology grand.
I just found out yesterday, having had the car for 2.5 years that the car knows when it's on ice and has ever so slight wheel spin, jiminy! But no oil-level sensor; what a POS.
And apparently, it has lousy rings, that even tho the compression is 220 psi, the blowby overwhelms the PCV system, which requires a constant top-up.
But even worse us that there is no EXTERNAL PCV system. And even worse is that somehow, the blowby gasses that escape the engine, find their way into the cabin when the car is stopped.....
But hey, I guess when I stop smelling them, I'll know it's time to add oil.....
