Just got my renewed CC. No embossed card number. I guess when I'm in HicksVille, AZ, buying camping/ prospecting supplies from the corner gas station/ general delivery/ hard-groc-flannel store, they are not gonna be able to "slide" their card reader no'mo?

...........Best I could do on short notice..........

I had one of those manual embossers on the tool truck for years. Then I graduated to Square and swiped them on my phone. Worked way better and saved me a lot of processing fees over the years. And a lot of time.

.........That only works if you have cell coverage...........There are lots of places that don't and you don't have to go far in some areas.

Ya, out in the boonies won't work. I was lucky.

I carry my CC everywhere I go but I never go anywhere without a couple hundred in cash, just in case. Taught my kids to do the same. There's been more than once when I have entered a store grabbed a few items only to get to the register and they say that their card reader is down and can't accept CCs. Or you stop to get gas in the middle of nowhere and they don't take CCs. There are very few places who will turn down cash!!

I've been places won't take cash, when I was doing Motorola work. I always figured "it should be" against federal law to refuse cash. And I DO carry some cash....always

Yep, like right around the corner. lol

My old Chevron boss made us save the carbon paper from the CC transactions. Just in case something happened to the station copies.

I guess the store will need to figure out how to adapt to stay in business...just like they did when they first started taking CCs using an imprint machine and mailing the receipts to get paid instead of taking cash only.

If they have a phone line, even a regular land line, they can use a magnetic swipe machine or chip reader. Otherwise, I guess they will have to just accept cash...or close the shop.

If they have internet connection, they can accept the new cards easily.

I suspect they will adapt.

I like the older bills better, this one is a 1934!! The really old ones used to say "Redeemable in GOLD!!"
