Did any of you horsepower calculator guys ever use this

-
Came out low for us as well, I only use wallace
3800@the line, best we run is a 10.35@130 with a 1.43 60 through full exhausts.
dyno'd@694hp from 5500>5900
at 679fwhp it says
60 Foot E.T. : 1.44
1/8 Mile E.T. : 6.53
1/8 Mile Trap Speed : 104.17
1/4 Mile E.T. : 10.34
1/4 Mile Trap Speed : 130
1/4 Mile Trap RPM : 6,160

I input my Modified Craftsman 19HP Kolher 42" cut riding mower in and here's what the results were..............................

Does the Wallace calculator give a flywheel hp or wheel hp ?

Also curious what gear are you using to get that rpm ? Thanks

In certain of his calculators it gives both, but his whp is just a calculated 10% less than his crank hp calculation. That is fantasy land, in my opinion. I think an auto trans street car probably loses closer to 20%.
Most of his calculators show crank horsepower (I'm pretty sure!)

I’m beginning to wonder if guys talking “horsepower” tend to be more street oriented and those that couldn’t give two squirts about HP numbers spend their time at the track. I’m just a greenhorn but I’ve yet to ever hear guys talking horsepower when in the pits at the track.

It sure used to happen at the local bar when I was wearing a racing shirt, which is all the time.

Because the guys that know don’t ask because guys that know know guys lie. I look at timeslips and dyno numbers. What the goofball talking says means nothing.

I would rather claim 400 hp (and not tell em i mean wheel horsepower) and have a hard running car, than tell em i have 800 dyno hp, and have a car that cant get down the track.
(And any time i hear somebody bragging about his horsepower, without a timeslip, i take it with a very small grain of salt.) If asked, i always claim a lot less power than i have.

Okay thanks.

My standard reply when asked about how much HP my car has is "not enough". It's not a lie, LOL.

I plugged in everything for a stock 225 and it showed 147HP. Pretty close as they are rated at 145.

Mine came out close to what I think I have (no dyno, just racetrack numbers)....RPM sounded a little high (almost 6900rpm). Side note: the compression calculator for determining dynamic compression said I had 15:1 static.....eh....no, lol.

Edit: it said I have 581hp....which is close to what my ET/MPH says.

Did you run that 589 combo thru the calculator at the beginning of this thread?

I plugged the data in for my friends street/strip 572....... it’s showing 100hp low.

Interesting. I just plugged one into the dynamic comp calculator and it came out right on.

Edit, I just tried one with a dome piston....... that came out correct too.

Yeah, I ran it twice....maybe I fat fingered somethi.......... I'm a doof....I put in a negative sign for my valve reliefs (should be positive #). Now it works (13:1)

Looks like I'm 603hp or 581hp depending on induction....both sound ball park.

fwhp, and we trap at around 6100>6200-ish as I'm not behind the wheel so I'm not sure, our verter is quite tight, the info isn't very forthcoming from driver, I'm crewing....oh and its 4.10 gear with 10x29 Hoosiers@16psi.

I did but we don't know the actual head cfm for sure so used 350@.625" for those 365CNC's which may be a bit generous even with a 440-2, and used 8.35 for dynamic both of which may not be accurate, came out at 659hp, not a million miles off of 694 but still low if I'm anywhere near correct

Yup, guilty as charged! Everyone that sees my car and asks gets told it's "just a 440, not much hotter than stock. I just put loud mufflers on it"

It shows 618hp for the 572.......made 716.

What’s the actual CR for that 589?

Probably true race guys are usually shotting for a certain et time and or it's a continuous progress, street guys when building an engine are really not shooting for any performance goal so it becomes I want 400, 500, 600 hp etc... whatever they think will satisfy them usually eyes bigger than belly syndrome. I think anyone building a car should shoot for a certain et goal even if it's never gonna be raced gives your project focus and everyone wants a certain performance ability even if it's like I'm ok with 16, 15, 14 second et gives you some foundation of what parts to use that will work well together.

As for the HP calculator, I just use the 1.4 cfm per hp rule of thumb and the cid x rpm/3456 = cfm, to get ballpark. So if I wanted a 400 hp engine that peaks around 5000 rpm would be 400 x 1.4 = 560 cfm so 560 x 3456 / 5000 = 387 cid.
