No, Chevies and Buicks were OHV motors from way back - 1929 for Chevy, 1931 for Buick. Chevy was a six, Buick was a straight 8. Those old Chevy sixes didn't breathe very well despite the overhead valves, and had cast iron pistons, so didn't rev too well, either.
