I have been on this idea now for more than a few years. After countless 60's, 70's Mopars, I have bought (yes over the phone) a 2 door 49 Dodge survivor,sorta of. Non runner,but been garage kept all it life. Meeting the seller next monday, 12 hr. trip. Was owned by his deceased 90 odd year old uncle.
Just a flathead 6 (stuck) 3 on tree I guess the model is Wayfarer. Some rocker and lower door rust and eveything is all there down to the hubcaps! It will go back stock with maybe upgrades to disc and 8.8, maybe.
My first car was a 49 chevy which kept me from walking. I have always wondered what me and Dad could have made of it, but 2 wars (WW11 and Korea) left him a changed man. His passion in life had always been mechanical stuff, but he left the military and just stopped loving it.
I guess in my old age, I crave an old early 50's project and just not a Chevy guy, per sa! Are there any other people on here that are into these models?
