I have a 318 with edelbrock heads , weihand DP intake and 204/214 flat tappet hyd cam. Has 9.8 to 1 comp. The AVS2 runs at idle only 3/4 turns out on idle screws so seems a bit rich. I have drilled a 1/16 holes in the throttle blades and adjusted the transfer ports to square but still seems rich at idle. I have also went one stage leaner on the main jets but correct me if I am wrong but this does not come into it at idle. What can I do to correct this and is anyone findind this the same with the new AVS2.

Choke hooked up and operating properly? I second floats and what is the fuel pressure?

Jim,
Geoff B. here from Killara. If you screw the mixture screws all the way in, does it stall the engine? It should. If it doesn't, it sounds like the engine is getting fuel from somewhere else. Check/set floats to 7/16" & needle & seats; check that the seats are tight in the air horn & that the needles are sealing. Check that the booster mounting screws are tight.

Yes Geoff the car will stall when you screw them all the way in ? Well I have not stalled it but it dies when all the way in so back out to about half a turn it runs best. Plugs are very dark. I might check a few things today but it has new fuel pump and maybe too much pressure?

1968 340 AVS 4425S carb problems Dirty air bleeds in idle circuit will definitely make for a rich idle mixture. Start at post 42 has pictures, those drill bit sizes are for a very early 1968 avs. The new carbs will be different.

I have a 1805S and have the same issues. Haven't checked the Air bleeds yet. Bought used but in like new condition.
Stupid question now. What does the S stand for on my carb. 1805S
