1970 dart gt emblems

When I got the car in the avatar (Dart Custom) painted last, I didn't want the vinyl top again (it had one of those really dark green ones originally). After a few years and seeing some of the rare cars that were built with painted contrast color top, I've always wished that I had kept the trim and painted the top black to match the hood and stripe, but trying to redrill all the trims holes sounded like a disaster. You could order the car like that, but the big deal at the time was pushing Vinyl tops.

These two national sales deals included: Vinyl roof, whitewall D-78-14 tires, Deluxe wheel covers, Deluxe interior vinyl trim, Rim Blow Steering wheel, left remote mirror, Carpets, Vinyl body side mouldings, front and rear bumper guards, wheel lip and belt mouldings and a free automatic transmission.

I plan to put a white butt stripe on the purple car and wanted to retain the option of painting the top white to match the stripe. We'll see.

By the way, This is my 1970 Swinger with its original Vinyl top! (complete with factory wrinkles on the C pillar)

I've seen a few cars with the painted roof (with the vinyl top moldings). There is a '69 Dart local to me with B7 & B5 blue color combination.

In fact the gentleman that was the previous, previous owner of my Dart GT has an orange '70 Swinger with a gloss black painted roof.

Do you know if '71 Darts had the painted roof option? Was there a fender tag code for it? I assumed Chrysler may have offered the painted roof option in certain geographic areas where the sun would bake the vinyl.
