Bearing retainer sizes

You have to take the whole trans apart to pull the input shaft on the small retainer, including the cluster gear. It's still a good trans, just a pain to work on. I used to break 2nd gear blocker rings all the time in the old days(didn't have a comp plus shifter with stops) all I had to do was pull the trans, side cover and input shaft to repair. That's how much easier the large retainer is to work on. The trans that is in my car now is the small retainer. Brewer has the adapter rings, I have one of them in my Lakewood.
