I'm sure this has been covered, but not having luck finding.. Can someone tell me how to remove dash pad from a 72 Demon.. preferably as detailed as possible. And, when buying a new dash pad, does it have the metal internal frame or is it JUST the pad... Thanks in advance, and sorry because I know it's probably been answered before.
 
Comes as bonded metal frame with studs. Contact www.thedashpadfactory.com . They are in San Antonio tx and will give you money for your core. I believe they are 3/8" stamped nuts up inside, and 1/4" self tapping screws on the lower corners.
 
There’s 5 studs with 3/8th nuts that run along the face of the dash and two set screws in the deep corners of each end with 5/16th heads. Drop your steering wheel, remove your cluster, center bezel and glove box door. Use a 1/4” drive. Get prepared for some frustration and nicked up knuckles. It’s easy, but there will be a moment where yiu scream inside a little.

Here's what it looks like out of the car. You can see the studs on the back where the nuts go. I recovered mine with new foam and vinyl. Wasn't too hard. I think it came out ok. Not oem but only about $20 in materials

Looks great. What density foam did you use? I have one I want to refurbish and possibly resell.

I also have one in black by the way with a very minor blemish, if the OP wanted to buy. Never installed, but came with a slight discoloration from Dash Pad Pro. It’s perfect otherwise. I can post pics if you’re interested.

I don't know The density. It is pretty light though. I used 1/4" thick foam, you might be able to use 1/2". If I do another I would use as heavy a density as I could find. Also make sure the foam is as perfect underneath as possible. Any kinds of lines or imperfections will show through under the vinyl. Steve

I don’t really have a price in mind. I was going to use it for trade when I start building a LA360.

I've replaced plenty of dash pads without dropping the column or removing the cluster. Just worm your hand up in there and do the work - with the pics here you know where the nuts and screws are...

Even with the cluster out, it was a *****. You must have grown up with a wrench in your hand.

How is the Speedo cable attached..if I do take panel out..?
 
If you don't take the instrument panel out, no need to disconnect the speedo. If you do, there is a clip to squeeze that is part of the connection, usually on top and it comes right out - the resistance is pushing the stiff cable away from the speedo, not resistance in the speedo. Go look up somebody selling speedo cables and see what it looks like because you can't see it while you are taking it out.

I’d like to know more about how you did that. I’m in the beginning of removing the pad now and was going to pull the instrument cluster and drop the steering. I find it hard to get a 5/16 socket on the screw, plus the wiring loom on the driver side is in the way (sort of)

Stay away from that business. Search my posts on them. No good!!!!!

I thought you had to remove the windshield to get the dash pad out?

Looks like I'm giving Just Dashes a call sooner rather than later.

I believe it’s the entire dash that needs the windshield to be removed first. The dash pad shouldn’t require the windshield being removed.

It ain't easy and it ain't fun. It's easier if you pull the front seat so you can lie on your back on the floor. Have a variety of sockets, extensions and open and ring wrenches. getting to each one is a little different. Some times it helps to push on the old pad where the stud is to get the nut loose. The right side is easy if you take out the glove box. you can reach through the glove box openning to get above the heater controls. Do you have a local kid in his late teens with some mechanical aptitude? It was a lot easier when I was 18 years old.
