Rebuilt 727 no reverse took off pan help

Yeah I have my old one to rebuild and I bought a kit so I'm going to give it a try, everyone always tells me if I can build a motor I should be able to do a tranny no problem

So check this out guys, all I have to say is CTS transmissions are crooks. Look at this conversation between me and him. Also blocked the number out so it doesn't jeopardize my fabo account but wanted you guys to see how he does business

It’s obvious he never intended to honour any kind if warranty from the get go. He probably has a face boob page ha ha ha. Kim

Yeah the guy it a total pos. Never buy from them I knew I should of just saved up more and went with cope. I just took the car for a drive now to the store and everything was fine till I pulled out the driveway and it seemed like when it tried to shift to 2nd gear it locked up the wheels, and my reverse isn't working again so I just drove home doing like 5 miles an hour. Guess I'm going to have to open it up again or just start rebuilding my old one and maybe buy a cope valve body

That’s bad on the shop. They were looking for ways to get out for the Warranty. They could have fixed that one in 10 minutes with their eyes closed.

How much money did this cost for the new trans? They need to help customers not Weasel out of responsibility.

The guy said because I put my deep pan on and not use the one it came with, voids the warranty. I'm going to pull valve body and see if strut just needs to go back in
Well that's cheapskate bullshit. You help a trans with a deep pan, if you also add more fluid & filter extension. That's Rediculous

a cautionary note: 1) Make sure your throttle pressure linkage is adjusted properly. It can "kill" a fresh trans fairly quickly. 2) Make sure the engine is not on fast idle before engaging reverse, especially if line pressure is jacked up. You can snap the end off a reverse band because it runs on very high pressure.

Sorry I'm a bit late on this topic - but I do hope that (unscrupulous) person has followed these posts. He could really use a 'beat-down' from Judge Marilyn Millian!

Well I should be able to get to it this week or the latest Saturday but when I pull the pan and valve body while it's in the car(I might get a crt valve body) what are things to look for if just the trans is bad? Burn marks or wear marks somewhere? Thanks for the help guys I do appreciate it

if, after pulling the valve body, you can see burn marks, or heat discoloration, then the trans will have to be pulled and gone thru. Judging from what you've disclosed already, you might be better off just pulling the trans, and going thru it, again, anyway. It sounds like it was a slap-dash job from the "rebuilder" from the get-go. Document what you see and do, take plenty of pics. If it's as bad as you say, you might want to post it on twitter.

Hey mark
If the trans tried to lock up on the 1-2 shift , the low rev. Band stuck on, that's what caused the bind.
Rear band will be wiped out and possibly the rear band drum also.
Best bet at this time is to just pull it disassemble and assess damage.
Hope not to bad, good luck.

Copy on that once I get the chance I'll be thorough and post pictures and everything

Really?! Damn after it locked up I pulled over and I put it back in first and putted first down the street looking for a turnaround and when I went to turn around I had to make 3 point turn, reverse wouldn't work. Then put it in first and putted it about 500ft back to the house. I sat in the driveway going through the gears and it acted like what it was doing before no engagement to reverse but seemed to go into gear for drive so not sure but that would be awesome if it wasn't destroyed lol. Tranny was 1000 bucks...I'm going to buy a crt valve body cause I have been eyeballing one for awhile but I will report back soon thank u again for the help

Mark if I can help with questions give me a pm and will try to help.

Also was planning on buying a new valve body through crt and it says it requires billet low/rev servo kit.

When I bought this transmission this was the info I had of what was done to it. Should I still buy the crt billet low/rev kit or stick with what I have?

Also having trouble decoding it

Sonic should be billet. Says it had a deep pan. Make sure it has a bolt in sprag. Kim
Okay, so I'll hole off on that but yeah it had a deep pan but I had a cast aluminum deep pan. It's like he rebuilt it and threw parts cheap on it. No filter extension on it either. How do I check for bolt in sprag?

Trans needs to be apart, outer race of the rear roller clutch will have bolts going through rear of main case in the gov support holding it in, factory was just pressed into case and a set screw holding it in.
