So I'm going to have the windows tinted on my 70 340 swinger after my new paint job. I was told by a professional window tintor that older cars such as ours are more difficult to tint the side Glass because of this window sweeps they are more rigid than the newer rubber style. I got this information after I had already reassembled my interior of course.I did not have a long conversation with this individual I was wondering what others think can a quality tint job be put on my car without removing interior door pieces.

From my experience in tinting windows, as long as there’s no sharp edges that touch the glass you’ll be fine.

The tinter said it just makes it tough at the end of The run on a window when they're dealing with rigid felt type window sweeps?

its the rear window that is the *****.. i was told it was easier to do before putting the window in.

Concaved window right, yeah I don't think I'm going there, but I think by darkening the interior of the car from the sides being tinted it will make the rear window seem a little tinted perhaps.

Check around with the local ordinances. Our PD tickets for having to dark of tint. Just sayin'

All my side and rear windows are tinted with the front side windows a little lighter shade of dark smoke.
Don’t have edge or sweep issues.
The biggest issue is guides and pads scratching the tint.

My 2012 Ram has rigid felt sweeps and it’s no issue. I’d find someone else to do it
Yes he said he could do it but just was letting me know that it was harder on the older cars. His references are impeccable and does a lot of very high-end work. I will also not take my car to any shop that isn't very well insured.

I every window done on my car (windshield included). The biggest issue we ran across was the age of the seals and the dirt that has collected there in around 45 years. I run historic plates which in Missouri exempts my car from tint laws.

and if you have a CPL, things may get muddied a bit more too
i know one kid who had the ghetto tint on his car and the police officer made him pull it off on the side of the road, since he was carrying

It has a nice look. I don't see as well in the dark any more. Like driving at night in the middle of the day and I would have to park it at night.

Thanks. Im starting to suffer from the same issue more than years past. It’s not as bad as it looks from the outside. The windshield is 50% and everything else is 20%. It helps my A/C a bunch.

I guess I never posted the end result. It came out quite nicely with the back window also being tinted it took him to tries but all in all it came out nice.my car has the original glass all the way around so it's far from perfect but I just wanted to keep it.

Looks great! Tinted windows go well with your paint and stripe.

I used to Tint (Back in the day!). Like a post above said, dirt collects at the sweeps, but other than that, I didn't find it particularly difficult. I just cut the tint long enough to reach an inch or so below the sweeps.
