finish bulkhead hole ideas?

Are you doing away with the bulkhead, or relocating it elsewhere on the firewall?

Just an aluminum plate in pic.Installed from backside.

no i am keeping the orig. bulkhead , and adding the 2.25 hole for the new harness , so i am wondering how people are cleaning up the hole for the new wiring , sorry for the confusion . thanks ed

You have an automatic? I ran mine through the clutch rod hole. What harness/ system are you running? Mine is Holly HP. If you are careful, ....................it will fit

Various wiring/ harness outfits like Painless, American Auto Wire, etc should be able to supply large grommets

I make 2 piece plates to cover the hole and usually use 1/4" rod around the inside hole to eliminate abrasion issues.

I'm using some mil-spec bulkheads for my wiring harnesses - mounting them directly on the firewall just above the transmission tunnel so they stay pretty well hidden

i am using the factory computer connectors so you have to drill a 2.25" hole in the fire wall , so i was interested what other people may be doing to dress this hole up with a cover of sorts . thanks for all the ideas so far. ed

I was thinking of doing the same thing to replace the stock bulkhead connector on my 68. Do you have a P/N or source for the one in your picture?

That one I pictured was actually for my forward light harness that went under the fender... used 16ga wires where as the EFI controller uses mostly 20-22ga so I went with a larger capacity pin.

I went with MS3470L18-32 for the bulkhead and the MS3476L18-32 for the connectors... I am running a MS3X so I have about 46 wires so I ran two connectors which leaves me room to expand if I decide to run other things in the future like flex-fuel or boost...

The connectors run a MSRP of about $80.00 for each end (but can be found cheaper if you shop around) but the crimper for the pins is also needed and about $300 for an economy model so it's a pretty sizeable investment over just a hold with a rubber grommet.

If youre looking to replace the factory bulkhead you may want to go with something like an MS3470L24-31... it has 31 pins for 16 ga wires -- your factory bulkhead has about 24 pins to this gives you some extra and would allow you to keep the factory wiring sizes -
