Im looking to swap out my stock 14 inch rims on my 73 Valiant. I would like to go with 15 inch rims and wanted to see if anyone knows what size rim I can run. I would like to run steel rims still to keep the dog dish look. Ive always hated how the rear is narrower then the front wheels. It looks like there is an 1 1/4 from the outside of the tire to wheel well in the front and 3 1/4 in the rear. The front is fine but it would be nice to go out 2 inches in the rear. I am currently running 215/70R14 Tires.

What is the stock width of 14 in steel rims?
What is the stock width of 15 in steel rims?

Thanks

Not sure on the Val, but on my buddies 70 Dart we are running 255/60/15 on 8in rims. On my 72 duster I’m looking at 275’s on a 10” rim... best would be to take to a custom rim / quality tire shop and have them measure your wheelwells and go from there. Summit has repop rallies for big and small bolt pattern...

I didn't notice in your post , is your car small bolt or large bolt ?? I know they changed most in 73 , but I have seen cars as late as 76 still be small bolt.

my brother with the bbp set up runs 225 60 15x6 or a 215 65 15 will also work with 4.5 back space and 255 60 15 15x7 4.5 back space

the reason the front has alot of back space is because BBP disc widen the track up front so we had more back space to tuck them in. This is with BBP pattern

So it looks like my front rims are part number 3580055 which states 14x5.5

I acquired a set of 15 inch rims from my friend who had them on his 75 duster. They fit the car good and look to clear the leafs and wheel wells. I may not go with the same size tire that is on them but these are a good start.

Tomorrow I plan to hit the JY and see if I can find 2 for the front. If mine are currently 14x5.5 Should I look for 15x6 or 15x6.5's?

Here are some of the pictures of the 15 in rim on the rear of my 73 Valiant.

No luck at the JY so I ordered 2 rims from summit for the front. I purchased 2x 15x6 rims with 3.75 backspace. I am unsure of the rim size of the back but the current tires on them are 255/60R15 leaving 1/2 from the leaf springs.

I ordered some ties today. BFG Radial T/As
Front tires will be a 215/60R15 and the rear are a little smaller than the ones on it, I chose 245/60R15s Hoping this is a good combo and fitment.
