Went to a friends garage last weekend to look at his car lifts. He has a single and a double lift. He buys the drive on type lifts.
He feels that for storage (the double lift) is the way to go. He has two on it and two under it.
The single has a small lift within the lift so he can lift the car he's working on a couple more feet and remove the tires, work on either end etc...
I might go with the single drive on style it looked really stable.

I have a 9000lb drive on, with jack trays. No problems jacking the car up to pull wheels, and as TJ says, leave the wheels on the runner so you don't have to lift them back up. Got mine here. Auto Lifts, Motorcycle Lifts, Tire Changers, Wheel Balancers & Car Rotisseries - Derek Weaver Company
 
All the connections will go thru the bulkhead connector. Lots of blank spots...
