I am finishing up a 1973 Dodge Dart with a 400 Big Block. I have the Pro Parts full length step headers for the A-body Big Block. Anyone have an exhaust system they recommend that worked with these headers? I'm leaning towards just taking it to a place, but thought I'd ask for input here first.

To use an aftermarket system on LT headers without swearing and having to do a bunch of modifications, the header collectors needs to point straight back and be pretty darn level. If yes, then you still have the problem of clearance over the axle with 3". Pypes makes a 3" hybrid system that is 3" X or H kit into 3" mufflers into 2.5" tailpipes which is a good match for your application.

If the collectors are at an angle or pointing downward, you can still use a pre-made system. However, you'll have to make custom collector reducers to get you back in line with the crossmember humps. The more crooked the headers are, the trickier the custom work becomes.

The Herb McCandless or Pro Parts headers are going to be a problem as the collectors are not straight back or level. I would get a good muffler shop to build it for you
