‘63 Turbine article

I was in high school in Oklahoma City when these cars came out. As an avid car nut I had read extensively about the Chrysler turbine cars and their development, but despaired of ever getting a chance to actually see one. One day I was traveling down a local side street, and there, in a driveway, sat a turbine car! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I stopped, being unbelievably brazen for a shy kid, and got out to take a look, even thought it was in a private driveway. No matter what your opinion of the styling, it was a beautifully made car. For a kid living in the US as it was just entering the space age the futuristic styling and exotic drivetrain was a fantasy come true. The video of the cars being scrapped that was linked to the Hagerty article was hard to watch. I’m glad at least some of the cars survived, are being preserved, and will be available for future generations to enjoy.
