What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

I got my power steering box back from the rebuilders. I had them do a firm feel type upgrade to it, which should make it feel much tighter. I will be happy just to get rid of all the leaks! Putting it back in will be one of this weekend's projects.

Upgrading from 11” rotors to 11.75” and from 2-5/8” piston calipers to 2.75” calipers.

yesterday got the 11” ssbc rotors off along with the caliper brackets and brake dust shields.

Tonight i removed the races that came in the new 11.75” stop tech slotted rotors. Installed the races for the timken bearings, cleaned, painted and reinstalled the dust shields, packed the timken bearings with lucas xtra heavy duty grease. Installed the new slotted rotors. Installed new 11.75” rotor caliper brackets along with new 2.75” piston calipers that i bought from dr diff. I love how the calipers have 2 bleeders so you can mount the caliper in any position. Just lack installing the stainless braided brake hoses.

Talked to the machine shop today, waitinglist for hot tank, hone mains, square deck, bore/hone cylinders if needed et cetera. June 1st. Prices are reasonable for doing the short block. I don't want to get evicted again for working on my engine. Note to self, never EVER buy a place with a HOA. Never! :BangHead:

Bled my brakes again... front discs are still sticking after letting off the brakes... either the new MC is bad or the prop valve is bad. ...

I did however make a nice new gate for our stairway.

For the second time in 3 years my power steering pressure hose developed a leak.

So I took my hose to a local hydraulic shop and had them make me one. He guaranteed it wouldn't leak. He charged me $60 which is about what a new one with shipping would cost.

Installed it this morning and took a ride around the neighborhood. No leaks so far!!

Took my 68 Valiant for It's 1st legal drive on the street got some gas and car wash :)

Bled brakes... (which is why front redlines aren't on) I can't get these damn front calipers to stop sticking, they stick for like 3-5 seconds. I have bled them way to many times... I have replaced everything except the prop valve. I hate the brakes... one day I'll just buy new everything again, but my car does stop pretty dog good...

Drove to the store with the daughter and then installed the "new" shifter knob. I love it.

Maybe you got a little garbage in the calipers (If its Disc Brake) around the pistons. Pull them apart ans clean them and seal them back up and try them... Just my Two Cents...

Got all the steering reconnected and the starter in with a new positive battery cable. Added a heat sleeve while I was changing it.

Doing my best to remove what seems to be about an inch of old lacquer and primer. Stripper works, but it seems that it only takes off a few mils at a time.

Got the under side of the car coated with chassis saver including the front wheel wells. I'm almost ready to start putting parts back on the car. The next step is to get the fire wall and engine compartment sprayed color matched red. Then install the QA1 front suspension that arrived last week.

It's called chassis saver and it's brushed on. I used the antique or satin black. I was looking for something to protect the undercarriage without hiding the details. I left the undercoating inside the wheel wells so it doesn't sound like a tin can with a marble in it every time a stone kicks up LOL. I really like how it came out and I can tell you if you get this stuff on your skin it won't wash off once it dries.

For now, waiting on O'reillys to get my spark plug wires shipped. once i get those, hopefully start it for the first time in 41 years. i'll post a video if it happens

You had 41 years to get ready. And you waited until today? :(

Nonononono... the car was sitting in a closed impound lot for the whole time out in vegas. I bought it 1/23/21, needed a whole bunch of things but finally, it is time to start it. then brakes, fluids, registration, title, etc.

Got the 400 buttoned up in my 66. Just have to make up some exhaust, plumb the transmission cooler and radiator, and finish up the ignition. It obviously still needs more stuff than that, but at least then I'll be able to fire it up.
