factory installed clock

Based on you name I would assume a Barracuda, yes it was available, it goes in the center pod replacing the Tach/Vacuum/Blank

Alan

You may come across the clock occasionally, but harder to find (I found) is the adjustment cable. If I wanted a clock $250 Cdn for NOS with cable 8s a good deal. But I've got factory tach, so I'm not looking. I do have a real nice performance indicator for sale tho.
 Wow. Over $300. (CDN). If paying that much I think I'd opt for the tach - also rare but still out there.

Interested, Send me a picture please and price. Thanks

One thing we don't do around here is sales going on in non sale threads. If you want to buy a part start a wanted thread. If you want to ask another member about a part they have, send them a personal message. Thanks

Options for '67,'68,'69= tach, vacuum gauge, clock and delete. Original tachs are the most expensive. Original tachs are large, heavy single units (no separate sender). Reproduction tachs are lightweight w/ modern electronics making them cheaper to make. There were also two RPM ranges available in these tachs. To each his own, but for me it must be original or go home.

Personally, I think that NOS clock on eBay for $201 is a good deal, if it works. I had a clock from my Sport Fury rebuilt with a quartz mechanism, and it cost about $150.

Fifty years ago I had a clock in my 68 Roadrunner, and after a while it didn't work. Back then, if they had to go into the instrument cluster, it was going to cost $300. I don't think the clock ever got fixed.

How the OEM clocks in old cars worked... A set of mechanical points on a ratchet mechanism would make a pop noise when winding the clock so it would run about 3 minutes, and pop again. As the daily driver would adjust the clock hands forward or backward to correct time shown, this adjustment would cause the clock to run a tiny bit faster or slower respectively. So the clock is/was being fine tuned by the driver. If you remove the battery cable on a classic that is rarely driven, then adjust the clock every time you use it, you have to know to adjust time forward one time and backward the next to keep it somewhere close to correct and not feck it up.
In my opinion, the vacuum performance gauge is the best option.

Funny story- bought a 1953 Chevy for a friend. He said that the clock wasn't working. I found that it was a mechanical clock and that you had to wind it up!

does the factory in dash tach fit in the optional console pod ?? I'd like to take my tach out/put the clock

Friend had 383 - 4 Bbl. 4-spd. '66 Satellite - sold it a couple decades ago for only 5 g's. That was first car I'd seen with the (front of the) console tach. Feature I liked the most was 0 - 6000 rpm's - - feature I liked the least was that you had to look way down to see it - and bulb inside better be working. But, I suppose it had to go somewhere and the cluster not set up for it.
Now I have to start thinking about what, if any, gauge will go into Swinger ralley cluster (middle).

You dont get this much info from any other gauge. VACUUM GAUGE READINGS MAGNETIC TOOL BOX CHART | eBay

Pictures of a 40,000 mile 1969 cuda unrestored Rallye Dash with clock. The adjustment knob goes through the bottom lip of the dash. Another pic shows the routing of the cable to the back of the clock. Notice the 24 hr secondary markings.

I ask why would anyone order a clock with a 340 4 speed factory 3.91 SG? He didnt want to be late to the dragstrip. Eliminations start at 1300 hours.
