I have a 1968 a body speedometer that I am pretty sure needs to be repaired. Makes an awful racket and jumps all over the place or just reads zero while driving. Replaced the cable (which was not in good shape) but it did not fix the problem. Pretty sure the speedometer needs to be repaired in some way. Been watching for a good oem used one but have not been able to find a 1968 150 mph unit. Have seen a couple other posts on fabo under the topic of speedometer repair and some are advising it is more cost effective to repair than buy a replacement. I would like to stick to oem.
So, I am asking for advice on what businesses people have had success with repairing their late 60's mopar speedometers. The only one I have heard of a couple of times is Deluxe Speedometer in Denver- any feedback on them would be good. I am in the Seattle area of Washington state and don't mind shipping it out if that is what it takes to get it done right.
What does everyone recommend?

Another well known business is Bobs Speedometer in Howell Michigan. They have been around forever.

You checked the speedo drive gear, right?
They can strip off the plastic teeth.

Redline Gauge Works, Santa Clarita CA.
He has been doing my work for over 20 years now.
Just a thought. At the back of the speedo head where the cable goes in there is a brass bushing. With you finger lube that bushing. This usually will take care of a jumping needle. I was told to use Vaseline (no joke) also pull out the cable from the housing and give it a good coating too.My 2 cents.

-Do you mean the speedo pinion gear at the transmission? It checked out ok.

-When I replaced the speedo cable I pulled the cable from the sleeve and put a light coat of all purpose grease on the cable before reinserting and installing. I did not yet lube the brass bushing at the back of the speedo. Can give that a try.

Thanks to all for the tips and recommendations! Please keep them coming. I will update as I make (or don't make) progress.

I have heard some negative reviews of Tacoma Speedometer from some trusted members. I would make sure to check them out first.
