71 dodge 360 running motor.
do tell. i am hoping it will rev nice and pull hard... just beginning my journey,,,
it is a very modest build
360 out of a RV that i freshened once with the biggest cam that would fit a stock converter, so a compcam 268
then i spun a rod and had it rebuild as a 408
since i kept the steel heads and small cam with 9:1 compression
it is not a high revving engine, power starts tapering off at 5500
but when my dyno sheet starts, at 2800 rpm there allready is 440 FTlbs of torque on tap
that runs up to 470 and 4000 rpm and drops, slightly, to 400 at 5500 rpm
as for HP, at 2800 rpm there is only 240 hp, which spikes at 423 at 5500rpm
i would imagine this is about the bottom of the barrel as far as 408s go
a bigger cam, better heads, more compression, there is plenty left on the table
but as far as cruisers go, this thing is perfect
