Yes, it's true. But I heard you have to use the hinges from the body the hood came from because attachment points to the hood are different between the Barracuda and Dart Sports.
This also means that you can put a Dart Lite hood on a '69 Barracuda (with correct hinges), but you also need the lighter hood springs. The standard hood springs will try to bend the lighter hood in the middle. But you'll save around 12-15 lbs off the nose because the underside of the Dart Lite hood is aluminum. (Like a Feather Duster. Both were part of a 1976-only 6 cyl. fuel economy option package.)
