74 power wagon dream truck...

-
Indirect progress was made today..
And a little direct LOL...
Got the Costco tent garage cleaned out as it's been a catch-all for junk for the last couple of years. Big load to the dump and a lot of organizing getting ready for the truck to go in there... Well pieces of the truck at each time I can get them off..
I picked up a set of adjustable rockers from a member... They're non-banana groove but I can put those in if I think I need them. They need lots of cleaning and clearancing for the bigger Springs and some lock adjusters from comp..

I have a set of banana groove shafts if you need one for a template.

I can drop it off when I drive my truck down there for you to buy me lunch...:D

9 months 10 days and counting....
For you'll be driving your Subaru down here on New year's day to buy me mine and drop off your shafts LOL..
maybe you should just drop off both of them and I can turn them into non-groove shafts LOL...
Your horde will never know the difference...:poke:..

What heads/springs are you running? I wonder if 273 rockers clear the stock springs on a SpeedMaster/Edelbrock head?

They're the 596 heads that I had 202 valves put in that used to be on the Duster up until earlier last year when I put the speedmasters on... They were originally set up with 273 rockers but they had to be clearanced a little bit at the base.. I'm still kicking myself in the butt for selling that original set... I think they're Crower Springs..

@halfafish eat my dust...:poke:.. LOL..

Oh please. The only way I could eat your dust is if I were to back up for about six months. There's no way you will beat me getting on the road. The head is back from the shop, dizzy will be done tomorrow, all that's left is rebuild the carb and reseal the tranny and stick it all back in.

Don't you have a thread to display these truck pictures on rebuilding a dart? LOL
Looking good.....

Yup. More photos and updates coming there soon. It will be really nice to get this thing out of the shop and get back to the Dart. Besides, I know where there's a recently rebuilt slant short block that's just dying to come home as the first payload in the truck.

My truck is defiled and I feel dirty...
I bought a bunch of Chevy parts....
I had to buy both the front and rear axles just to get the outer spindles and stuff for the brick disc brake conversion...
When I looked up rotors and calipers I was happily surprised at how dirt cheap Chevy stuff is LOL...

Funny! When I put a Chevy Dana 60 on my truck I put Cummins Dodge brake parts on it to make myself feel better!

Cley

At least you’ll be able to stop with some nice disc brakes mmmhhhhmmm
Not sure what I'm dealing with... Was told this was 1978 Chevy truck...
I want new manual looking hubs and from my research it looks like I have 73-77??...
What I have..

After the hassle getting the u joints off the inner Axel's I wasn't planning around with the outer axles...

I'm still not sure what I got...
It seems the rotors might be the same, but these hub's seem to very...??..
I was told by a Chevy friend that these aren't stock Chevy hubs??..
It really doesn't matter to me, but I'd like to know what they're from to order parts..??..
HELP!!!???...

Those look like stock hubs to me, are they both the same? Take a picture of both facing the same way, front and back.

I had a ‘77 Chevy k20 once. It had those same style lockout hubs with the larger external mounted body.
Those are external locking hubs, I’d say correct for the year, (77 & older)

I never really see no downfall with those. Some have complaints about the bolts backing out, lock washers don’t work, shearing off the bolts, etc.
Use a grade 8 bolt there and loctite, OR take it a step further and use studs, or even use ARP bolts right there, either way, not a big issue.
turn those rotors if they got some meat left, you’ll save some money there instead of buying new. You might get another use out of them. buy reman'd calipers from napa, they're pretty cheap. use what ya got as cores.

Parts look fine to me. Clean them up a quick blast job and rattle can. G2G

I had to do the same with my ujoints. Cut them apart.

I'd spend the extra money on US made TIMKEN bearings, races and seals. National are okay, but...they're just not Timken!!
