Fishing season ain't far off. Theres a wide range in quality and prices. My current one is an older Humminbird approx 15 years old that Dad bought for me.
The tech has advanced dramatically, any suggestions? Garmin, Humminbird? Panoptix I think is with Garmin.
I have a foot operated Minnkota, older model probably 10-15 years old.
Looking for fob and foot operated as well as maybe "spotlock".
I dont have much for budget, but always nice to look lol.
Suggestions/reviews?

Went down the Garmin road years ago with a GPS. Found out all of the software was proprietary. When they decide to discontinue a format, it's gone. Since then, I have opted to use equipment that is Navionics compatible. Keeps the options open. I have an old Lowrance unit that I still use. LOL.....But I don't really try that hard to catch.

I need one too. My old one was 20 years old and it gave up the ghost last summer. I need it mainly for depth because we're on a river that gets shallow in spots sometimes and it gets tricky trying to navigate our pontoon through those areas. I started looking last year on Amazon and looks like the range from around $100 to $1000s of dollars. Thanks for reminding me I needed one, lol. I'll be watching to to see what others post.

I got a mini koda 50 pounds trust, a couple of years ago five-speed electric motor it's a pretty basic model but it pushes my 16 ft ski boat around great for trolling.

I have a Humminbird 798. It went on clearance when they started pushing the Helix line so I said "yep". I can't and never will use all the features. It does conflict with the boats thru-hull depth meter so I just use the Humminbird.

Pretty happy with this MotorGuide Wireless (W55). This '08 Cabela's model came with a wireless foot pedal and fob. Takes some getting used to. It's nice not being tied to the bow all the time. It does need the required 50 amp breaker and will not tolerate a 30 Minn Kota. Guess how I know!
My advice, go bigger than what you think you need, especially if you boat has a taller gunwale!

Thanks guys, I'll have to chk and see what thrust Minnkota I have now. It pulls the Lund fine but the pedal is hard wired to the motor and no fob.
For fish finder I'm not sure what make yet. I was checking last year and in $300-400 range can get you a decent "looking" one. I know I would like both down and side imaging, so split screen capabilities.
Plotting/marking, SD card for "maps/navionics".
And a decent sized screen, 7 or 9". I havent really researched a lot yet.
Here is a good site that gives some info on different makes.
Thanks

THAT right there Troy is good to know about Garmin. I'm avid, BUT I want versatility and flexibility.
