Edelbrock 500 vs. 600 cfm fuel milage

Do you think, on a stock 318 the eddy 1403, 500cfm carb vs. The 1406, 600 cfm carb give any advantage on fuel economy or just be a moot point?

Super minimal difference.
The engine is going to pull what it can use with either, and a 318 maxes out at around 600 cfm anyway.
 
There'll be a bigger performance advantage to the 600 than mileage advantage with the 500.

It is for my stock Ramcharger. I already have the 1406 on it and runs great. Just wondering if I could squeeze a little bit more out of it.
 
Smaller venturies = faster air fuel speeds and higher vacuum to atomize the fuel.

Most of the time you will be on 2 barrels anyway and if those venturies are the same size it is moot.

Gut says no noticable difference between the two if equally adjusted for A/F ratio etc

I am hoping to get about 15 mpg out of it. I'm not that far from it now. Its gotten the best with the 1406 on it. I even thought of an AVS2 . I'll keep playing with it.

Minor things all ad up. I had a 1983 4x4 Ramcharger. Air up the tires, drive like there is an egg under the accelerator pedal. Accelerate away from lights and stop signs easy. Let off the gas when the light up ahead turns yellow. Fresh oil change with efficient oil. Fresh rear diff lube change.

Kinda not an answer to my question. I was askin what kinda "difference" do you think would be from the 600 to the 500? In other words, if the 600 gets 15, how much "more" do you think a 500 would get? I bet it's even possible the 500 "could" get less mileage, IF it puts you in the situation to whee you're using "more" of the carburetor, if that makes sense. 15 is pretty good for a big rolling box on wheels.

Playing with it is what I do as well.
Even if it’s already really close just for something to do on it.
I’m just a bit rich on WOT, so I’ll be playing with that before long.
If you have a way of seeing the A/F ratio you can get down to the wire with it, but even then what the motor wants sometimes varies from what the gauge says is perfect.

Just a FYI, I was getting right at 17mpg in my Dart after tuning and tuning again.
When getting that specific about it everything matters right down to your timing, including you vacuum advance .

Gotcha, sorry. My thoughts were that if I used a smaller CFM carb, that I could possibly get a little better fuel milage, whatever it was. Every bit helps, but I understand what you mean about the smaller carb could actually negate any gain expected. I am constantly trying to improve it. I love the snot out of this beast and at times, prefer to drive it over my 2018 Ram.
I'll look into changing the metering rods next.

It "could" negate any gains.....it just all depends on "where" it is with the 600. I don't know, once I get something running as well as you make out the 600 to be, I leave it alone. lol

Timing is my next plan I think. I just replaced the distributor with a new one a few weeks ago and a set of the e-core plugs. I picked up a noticeable improvement from that. I enjoy tinkering with the Ramcharger over my Duster most days, plus I enjoy the challenge of trying to reach my 15mpg goal.
