Never knew that!~ I thought it was some sort of balancing act. Makes sense now as I remember a Chrysler air raid siren using a "chopper disk" to make the siren noise, looked like a turbine compressor blade. My only experience with a "throwing star" flex fan joke was the odd noise it made...right before I shut it down and pitched it in the trash.
