Does anyone have a source for stock style head bolts? For a restoration build. I am not looking for ARP, I would like a stock style bolt with 3/4 inch hex head.

I found fastners has grade 8 bolts . perfect for head bolts. i bought some for a fh ford, . excellent quality bolts. i bought 48 of them cost was $ 54 .or fastnal.

I would just reuse the old ones unless they are damaged or you are building a high HP or rpm engine .

I believe factory head bolts are better than grade 8. I think they are either a 10 or 12.

Besides "all that" I have used literally hundreds of used head bolts sets through the years and not broken the first one. Nor have I ever seen one break. I'd have no problem using a set again. They are not stretch to yield bolts.

But I had a GF that was...

What bolts wouldn’t you use again besides Rod bolts? I’ve read(no actual experience) that all TTY bolts shouldn’t be reused.

I believe Mancinni Racing has a set of "New" factory style head bolts, along with thier other offerings.

Depending on the application and build, I've reused rod bolts. I wouldn't do it now, though. As long as it's not a TTY bolt, it's fine to reuse. Lots of people do measure rod bolt stretch though. It's a smart thing to do. That's a corner I won't cut anymore.

You read right. No TTY bolts should be reused. None of our Mopar engines has any of those.

When I was rebuilding my '99 4.0 Jeep I was looking for new head bolts as they were TTY style.

I was told by the local Mopar shop AND my NAPA store that single use head bolts are intended to be reused ONCE. The Mopar/Jeep shop never installs new head bolts unless the engine has been apart before per their parts dept.

I DO know they will not snap off if used a second time from new. I did buy new bolts as I got a smoking deal on them.

Don't shoot me I'm just the messenger.
