I am going to be adding a B&M plate cooler in my 67 Barracuda to aid in the cooling of my 3000 stall 727. Currently it is cooled through my Griffin radiator which seems to be doing fine but I want added cooling protection.
My issue is I dont like the way the cooler gets mounted with the zip ties or cheesy looking unistrap.
Anyone have a better way of mounting the ATF cooler? Some pic's of your improved set up would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I'm in the process of installing one in my 66 Barracuda.

I picked up 1" square steel tubing. (I could only find 3/4" aluminum). I found holes in the radiator frame to mount the top square bracket to. For the bottom bracket there were holes in the core support, but I hd to drill through the radiator frame. I used a 12" long drill and went between the top of the bumper and the grill. Perfect fit!

I mocked it up with bolts and nuts, now I'm painting it. To get more access I removed the hood latch and a core support to grill support bracket. Still tight but reachable.

We have a member here that put his cooler in his 67 Dart fender in front of the tire up high, big block 440 daily driver all I see was his trans line going threw the inner rear fender. I didn't or couldn't bend down on my nea's to see it, it was a rag top also.
He drove it a lot and said it was staying much cooler then putting it around the radiator, his big block probably needed all the cooling it could get

Very interesting
I like the idea of not putting in front of the radiator.
I also have an A/C condensor to deal with.

I have a cooler with a fan on the top of it mounted high in the rear axle area of my Demon, it's about the size as the one 66fyssh shows in his pictures.

I used a pair of the largest plate coolers that I could fit. I had to use two smaller coolers due to the close proximity the of the back of the grill. and center support, because one large cooler wouldn't fit.

Also, I plumbed in two brass ball valves in the cooler lines so I can bypass the plate coolers and direct the fluid through only the radiator to get heat in the fluid quicker, or have the fluid bypass the radiator cooler and go just through the plate coolers to better cool the fluid when drag racing etc.

You can't really see the levers in this pic, but you can see the top and bottom of the rear lever if you look closely. The closer lever is in line with the tube essentially hiding it.

Something to think of also, is mount one street-rod style, they make them with a fan, you can mount them anywhere.

Mine is mounted. I'm going to drive my for awhile before I connect the lines to see if runs any warmer with the cooler in front of the radiator. The 1" square tubing keeps it away from the radiator so I'm hoping it will still get air.

The photos are pretty crappy, but here's how I mounted mine. Excuse the body-colored core support. It's on my to-do list.

The top mount is just a bent piece of 3/4" x 1/8" aluminum strap and uses an existing hole in the latch support. The lower mount is just a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate and uses the bottom two bolts of the latch support.
