Hey everyone. Thank you all for the input. After fussing around trying to find the ideal location in terms of accessibility, safety, and easy of installation I finally came up with this idea: place the fuse panel into a weatherproof box and and install it in the engine bay on top of the passenger fender near the firewall.
There just isn't enough room under or behind the radio. I thought for a while about mounting it under the driver seat. But the engine bay seams ideal in terms of ease of access and proximity to the battery, engine block ground, and alternator.
