My '68 Hemi Dart has an alum-headed Hemi in it. Nice overall but the steering is SO easy I can steer it with one finger sitting still. I expect SOME effort with that much motor on topof the suspension. Anyone else have this "issue"? It drives fine & all that. I'm just curious if I'm the only one.

@ns1rm21 has that same setup and drives his a lot.

maybe he can comment. He used the offset upper control arm bushings installed for more caster

We aligned it with a home alignment kit I have. I don’t remember his alignment numbers.

manual steering of course....

This car has manual steering. With the Bias ply tires it will follow the groves in the road but it tracks nicely. I remember we pushed for the most Caster we could get but I don’t remember what we got.

Interesting. Has the steering box ever been upgraded to one with a different worm gear ratio? The factory original manual gear box is a "two armer" sitting still.

Is a 24:1 steering box?

If it is, you have a pretty easy solution, just swap in a 16:1 manual box.

Ns1rm21’s has the standard 24:1 gear.

Not sure about the OP or his alignment numbers.

I was noticing the same with my Dart. Sitting on the hoist it is easier to turn pin to pin than I expected. Standard steering, KB alloy block, aluminum heads. Have not driven yet though.

Manual steering, stock front-end. I just dropped the K-member as the factory did.....

what’s your alignment numbers?

I know Ns1rm21 had offset upper bushings and we set it for positive caster.

stock spec for manual steering is 0 to negative caster. That will give you that light steering effect

I don't recall the specs but the alignment shop had never seen a Hemi Dart before so my guess is they set it at 0. Do have his spec & a part number for those offset bushings?

Nope! Took it in for inspection during the build & the shop said it was perfect.

Moog K7103
I think other companies sell them.

Install per these instructions below

NOT the instructions in the box.
