Dust Boot On Then Slide Torsion Bar In?

I read quite a few posts here and on the B Bodies forum but couldn't find an answer: Do I slide the torsion bar dust boots on the bar, then going from the engine side/front of car, do I slide the torsion bar into position, moving the bar towards the rear of the vehicle? It seems as though it would be very difficult to slide the torsion bar from the rear of the car then put the boot on while the bar is in it's mount. It doesn't seem as though I would have much room to finagle the dust boot on while it's under the car. Or am I just being an idiot and over looking something obvious? Thanks for any help
