what's a original 7 1/4 duster rear end worth ? I am going to sell mine as I upgraded to 8 3/4 and could use the money back. Also have a set of 4 aluminum slots small bolt pattern , and the rear wheels are wider than front , may be factory unsure but what would a good price for the wheels be ? May list them here but would be local pickup , just trying to find a value at the moment before listing locally on market place or craigslist

Nothing cause mopar didn't make one.

7 1/4 is what you have. Not a lot. Maybe 1 to 200. There are people who would want to restore to oem.

Most folks give them away............I had an extra one for years and couldn't give it away.

As stated most people give them away..
I wouldn't do free maybe like 40 or 50 dollars just so the scrap metal guy doesn't come pick it up. or if you're in the market for a good wooden back scratcher you could put it on barter on Craigslist... LOL..
reason being is because 90% of the people do exactly as you do they upgrade their rear end and upgrade to bigger Bolt pattern... I guess there's the occasional die hard slant six guys that look for this stuff but generally their slant sixes aren't breaking 7 and 1/4's...
You could always get lucky if you got time to just let it sit out there you might be able to get a little bit for it but it's not going to be people banging your door down for it and also there's the how long do you want to hang on to it end of the deal as well...

Also you can edit your post and the title. To edit post look in the lower left corner of your post for an "edit" button

To edit the title look just under the title on the right hand side for "thread tools"

I've got one that I've been trying to give away and no one wants it. I might have it gold plated just so someone will come get it, lol

what's a original 7 1/2 duster rear end worth ? I am going to sell mine as I upgraded to 8 3/4 and could use the money back. I'd start at $250 for the tires and wheels, if the front tires look as good as the back ones. I think that would be a fair deal for both parties involved. Steve

The 7 1/4" axle is like the Slant six engines....Often times the only person that wants one is the dude that is just trying to replace a stock part that broke.
I've given away small bolt pattern 7 1/4" axles, small bolt pattern wheels, 9" drum brakes to guys that had incomplete cars just to get their cars complete again. It is situations like this that justify a hoarder mentality.

Even if it's the sure grip, which is pretty rare, it's still not worth much, because there are ZERO rebuild parts available for it. I mean NONE. Might be different if something from another application fit, but there's nothing that matches up.

And don't misconstrue my answer. I'm not sayin it's a piece of ****. Heck, if you were local to me, I'd throw some money at you for it, or maybe we could trade something. I have a 7 1/4 under my Valiant and it's probably gonna stay there for a bit. So I would take another one.

Hang onto it, eventually someone will need parts. I got 2 and refuse to scrap them.

The measurements of the wheels should be cast into the backside. If you can get those dimensions (and possibly the brand name, if it's there) for us it would help with pricing them.

No 340 car was equipped with a 7 1/4

This ^^^^^ being the case, that looks like an 8 1/4 with the bigger axle tubes.

7 1/4s have dinky axle tubes.

8 1/4 are desirable rear axles, can be built with sure-grips too. Check with Dr Diff for parts. Definitely worth some money compared to the 7 1/4.

If it is an 8-1/4, then it will also have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. What year is your Duster?

Match up the rear cover bolt pattern. Good Chance the 8 1/4 has the 3.21 ratio.

340 Duster open diff ???
Good chance it could have a sure grip too.
Don't get rid of it before you pull the rear cover and check that ring gear and diff.

Tags on the rear cover bolts can identify it too.

People give them to me all the time and I usually end up giving them away to someone in need.I just keep a spare for each of my A bodies because you never know and when you need one the chances of finding one are pretty slim and getting slimmer all the time. Don't scrap it but don't expect much if anything for it

If it is a big bolt pattern 7.25 axle save everything from the backing plates out. That brake stuff is getting hard to find and the BBP brakes on those will fit the 8.25, 8.75, 9.25 and the D60.

If that’s the case the brakes are worth something.
