Basically it allows your foot to control the speed of the machine, similar to that of a gas pedal. Let’s you use both hands. The machine my wife has just had the regular pedal which is simply on and off.
Mine is a clutch. Seriously, motor runs continously, and you can feather the clutch. I added a jackshaft to slow machine down to about 1/2 speed. I dont think i have used it in 5 years.
