carb or efi

Wow... with the information you gave us (zero) on the build, it's impossible to answer.
What's your engine combo, what parts (cam/compression/exhaust/trans/...)
How comfortable are you tuning carbs? Which brand/style?
How comfortable are you with programming efi systems? Even the best self-learning systems will require some manual input... Which systems are you considering? What is your fuel delivery system like? EFI requires a whole different support system than carbs...
"90% strip"- any particular class?
Throw us a bone, here...

Carb unless you're up for a steep learning curve and a bunch of work. I went efi on my street car and I don't recommend it to many as they're not diligent enough with their fuel system or wiring to make an efi reliable. Then if it doesn't "self tune" 100% they blame Holley. Gotta put in the time. My car will start on the key in zero degree weather without ever touching the gas. It's pretty damn sweet and I doubt I'd run a carb on the street again.

Simple, if carbs were better they would still use them on modern cars. (Shots fired)
90% track. Go to the track, look at any classic architecture Mopar V8 (hell, ANY classic style V8) and it'll be a carb 95% of the time. Modern V8s are a different animal. Apples and oranges. EFI on modern cars is for driveability and emissions, no gain power-wise over a properly set up carb at the track.
Shots returned.

Two of the fastest 3 barracudas I know of around here run fuel inj.

Hell I've fired up engines with nothing bolted to the intake flange....................and then there's....................

What racing are you looking to do? Most of the nostalgia classes won't allow EFI. But if you are looking to do regular bracket classes and plan on buying a data logger take a look at the EFI systems.
