Got myself a belated xmas present and early birthday present. Ordered it back on January 4, 2021, they said it would take a 6 weeks at least due to shortage of parts. Kept in touch with them ...last update said it suppose to be done the end of april ...they called last thursday to say it was ready...Going tomorrow to Riverside Ca to pick it up ....

Bought the professional series....but I did not pay what the ad shows....plus got some extra pieces at reduced prices....Cash talks...

Told a couple of racers....and I got some new good friends...lol..

Ohhh yea. That’s real nice. Would save me a whole lotta work had I ran my 360 on the stand if I had one. Damn rear main.

I agree....Actually my fellow racer....runs 340s in Stock eliminator and he has a couple of stockers he wants to break in too..He is just around the corner from the garage...

Been eyeing one of these for a long ...thought about building my own....But.....that is why i still work...LOL...

Going back to work on Tuesday...going out of town to northern Nevada...Elko...nice and cool...

Once you get it you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. Much easier to break this stuff in on a stand than in the car. Especially if you are pulling inner springs for cam break in. Even if it’s a roller it’s much easier to work on the engine on a run in stand than in the car.

You are going to like that. Handy for tunning in carbs too if you have a base running engine around to use as the test bed.

Built my own, was actually as much fun making it, as it is doing the classic cars. Nice way to break in new engines. My Buddy Brian engine builder has used it.

Meh, it's nice, but not $2,500 nice. The steel around here would be less than $150, the wheels $65 from a local guy I know. Some cutting, welding, and some extra parts and you're in for far less than a grand. If you can't weld, a case of bear usually does the trick.

Made this one, about 80 bucks in metal, donor parts as in castors, HF engine stand and a old radiator. I cannot begin to tell you how much nicer it is to tune/trouble shoot an engine without bending over a car fender.

This ^^^^^ is what the Husband and Wife's Stimulus Checks are for. Turn loose of the money, stimulate the economy, instantly start having fun.

I wholly disagree with this.... on so many levels, but that would require this thread to be in a different forum so let's stay away from that shall we?

I think you may be skimming over some stuff
There is a radiator on there, I'm guessing it has fans mounted to it, a fuel tank, and a dash panel with some gauges

I have no doubt it can be build for less, but it does seem like a nice all inclusive package

Sure, nuts and bolts too. Those don't cost that much either... Still not a $2,500 piece of equipment.

tach 100
gauges 50
Steel 100-150
Gas can 20
Radiator 200 (if you buy a new one) 50 w/fans from the yard
Misc wire 20

So for around 500-600 ish, plus time... Still WAY less then a grand....

people would rather spend some money than take the time to build. Makes the world go round.

Buying steel from the yard and gauges from the auto parts store, and parts from the yard all do that too... just sayin'

To be fair, it appears to be a nice unit, but just not $2,500 worth. The OP did say he didn't pay the sticker price, but still.

It a value of ones TIME... You want to do it Tony didn't.

Simple as that.

I quit building engine dollies and other items because the $/hr just didn't make sense for the wear and tear on my body.

How many hours would it take to put that together and powder coat it, make all the panels, extension arms, etc... If it took a day or more... if you make 10/hgr in a job, then the trade off is more palatable. If you are making 50/hr then not so much.

No kidding... again, we don't know how much he paid, and I don't know how far he had to drive from Nevada to Cali to get it. That takes TIME... I can use big letters too.

All I said, was that it's not a $2500 piece of equipment, that's IT, which is my opinion... HIS opinion is that it is.... Good for him, no harm no foul...

If people want to waste money on something, knock yourself out. I'll save my money and TIME waiting 3 or 4 months... AND support my LOCAL economy.... you do you bro..

55 an hour

I built this one for about $1000.
But it had everything stand alone, ignition, fuel cell, radiatior, exhaust, it has a charging system and battery.
It also had full gauges, with an electric fan.

If it took a day or more to build that, a person should probably step away from the welder....

Powder coat? Would not bother. Too expensive and literally no benefit over simple paint. As far as the brackets, extensions and arms? The brackets aren't complicated, the extensions are straight tube, inside other tubes, and panels are, well, flat...

Saying I make XX per hour at my day job, and basing the decision off of that, only applies if you actually build stuff like that for a living. I'm an IT guy, make a good salary. I don't make that salary welding and would never, so I can't say my time is worth XX with respect to what i do in my own garage. Doesn't work that way.

That all said and done, the thing might be worth paying 1000 for. That would be my comfort level but as I've said many times here, I'm a cheap *** and will build before I buy when I can. This, I can....

if you make XX an hour as an IT guy, then it stands to reason that you LOOSE XX an hour if your in the garage running a grinder, sorry, welder

so maybe you should value your time at the same level your boss does, because that is your earning potential

Not if I'm not at work and if i am at work 24 hours a day, what kind of life is that... again, that argument doesn't hold water.
