It's yours, do what makes you happy. Let the purists worry about their own rides, do whatever it takes to enjoy what you got.

I'm really thinking of putting the original side stripe on it but I'm afraid I may damage the paint taking the ones on it off and wouldn't want to have to paint the car over it .

Valiant Steve, if I could ask when you take pictures of your beautiful Duster or anything else could you please have your light source behind or somewhat there? It would make a brighter picture.
What I can see you have a very nice Duster and if it were mine I'd drive and enjoy it and when it comes time for some exterior work I'd look into whatever you wanted then. It is your to do but it looks like it has a bunch of smiles waiting to happen.
Happy Easter to you and yours.

Looks like they did a '73 and '71 paint scheme kinda mixed together. Not a fan of that. I like the Sharktooth grill. Has always been one
of my favorite. But, hey it's your ride. Nice car.

Your car, your way! I like the stripes. They look good with the B7 and are a little different to the untrained eye. Nice ride!

If it were mine I’d leave that sucker just the way it is.
Piece of artwork right there.

Tail panel stripes are wrong for a '70 as well, but I don't know if I'd bother changing it all.

Really looks good --- in 1970 I factory ordered a Duster 340 in B7 that is similar to your car. My interior had the bench with center arm rest front seat, but had the same padded steering wheel center which was part of the Interior Decor Group. Looks like the front discs have been converted to later LBP front calipers. The stripes on the car appear to be a mix of 1971- 73 Duster 340 factory stripes. Rather than risk damaging that beautiful B7 Jamaica Blue Metallic paint, I suggest leaving the installed stripes in place (although I do like the 1970 Longitudinal stripe package on the Duster 340s).

Someone added bright exhaust tips which were not available on 1970 Duster 340s but were standard on the 1971 Duster 340. I'd leave those as well --- they look good. Adding bright exhaust tips was a regular Day #2 mod back in the day.

Car looks great ---- how did you find this car (PM me if you wish)?
It's a beauty...Enjoy!

I would not change anything either, except for maybe continuing with the day 2 modifications under hood. But nothing that would prevent being able to put it back to it's present state. It looks perfect, I would be very happy with it as is.

lol and what might the day 2 modifications consist of ???

The stripe and car look great! Like you said the problem is removal without damage. Try to speak with some experts. Maybe Phoenix Graphics. See what they say. Paint could be faded around the stripe too.

Just the usual... Edelbrock LD340, Large Holley carb, MP 268 cam, Doug's headers, maybe some chrome direct connection valve covers. But I would choose a carb that would let me keep the original unsilenced air cleaner. Those have their own cool factor, like the factory engineers grew up turning the air cleaner lid upside down, too.

Okay I get it I do have an Edelbrock LD340 and a 750 DP Holley carb sitting on my shelf and it seems to have a mild cam in it maybe an old hemi grind I'm thinking ... I'm good with that but the valve covers & exhaust are staying it has flowmasters on it .

Yes, plenty of day two engines kept the original valve covers, too! If your able to share it with us, some video of the exhaust note would be appreciated!

What is the story behind this car ?
Looks to have been kept in climate controlled storage .

23,000 original mile Duster and change to a 750 Holley ?
FTN.......Keep the original Carter on there !!!!
I would keep that car all original. Not to many 23,000 mile Dusters rolling around.
I would keep that one the way Ma Mopar intended it.

Nice looking car Steve. Is that a Canadian car? In the 70's I had a friend who had a 318 4 speed in North Bay with that color. Not sure what happened to it, but he was hard on that car.
