b motor into a body

The Heddmans only work on "some" of them. It's all dependent on how the car's put together as each one is a little different.

The C body HP manifolds are another possible option.

Thanks guys. Yeah Rusty, I know how that goes. I already have a set of the Hedmans in my parts stash. I have a 400, toying with the idea of dropping it in my Duster down the road a bit. My small block is out for an overhaul. Might have to just buy the mounts and mock it up. Are the Transdapt mounts just like the Schumachers?

I don't think the TransDapt mounts are the same quality as the Schumachers, but they're not junk, plus they're still bein made. lol

I'm making the mounts for the 400 in my 64 Valiant from some factory Chrysler mounts.I am going to modify them to work.

Is that some kinda NOS 400 you found?

Yeah. Local roundy round guy had a couple stashed away. Trying to get the second one. He said he had 8 to begin with. His buddy bought a truckload when MP was liquidating the big block stuff. I bought a 440 block at a swap meet, and he approached me while I was loading it and asked if I wanted to buy a 400 for $500. When he told me what it was, I drove straight to his house an hour away to get it. He had a bunch of other stuff too, like those Crane rockers, and an NOS MP elec. Ign. conversion kit for B blocks, 187 pans, etc. I bought $900 worth including the short block.

You can check out my build as well.. originally a 318 (long gone when I bought my project).

-440
-manual transmission
-1 3/4” TTi Shorty headers
-10.5" 130 tooth flywheel
-bellhousing #2468372
-TTI Z bar and ball stud mounts
-power steering
-1.03” torsion bars
-Trans-dapt mounts
-RobbMc clockable starter
-699 oil pan
-17” rigid fan (even shallow style fan clutch didn’t work for me)
-22” cheap radiator and no shroud (works great so far, but I’m at pretty low HP at the moment.. 1977 motorhome 440)

TTI has good info on their website about what fits and what doesn’t.

I first built/installed a 383 with TTi long tube headers (fit just fine) and a mini starter from 440 source. The 383 went south on me, so then I went with a used 440 from a 1977 motorhome. Which immediately put me into the Tri-Y header category... the long tubes no longer fit, but as others have said, there are a couple more options. And also forced me to change to the RobbMc starter.

I also bought a full frontal accessory kit from 440 source (power steering pump, pulleys, belts, alternator, brackets.. awesome fit and no fuss).

Do all your brake lines, fuel lines, etc BEFORE engine install.

To make things easier during install, pull the steering column, and wait to install the master cyl (or hang it out of the way like I did) until after engine install. Also, installed from above without any trouble. Others like to drop the car down into the motor/trans/K member.

I couldn’t have done it without all the help of these fine people. I was almost totally green when I started this. Good luck and have fun!!!

The 1st thing I did was get rid of the power steering.
I did the 383 swap in 1978 was I was 16.
Dad made the original motor mounts from a templet in a early 70's Hot Rod magazine.
I had free access in the local junk yard for anything I needed due to a lot of trading.
Found a set of b-body hp manifolds that worked with a little grinding.
Swapped to big bolt pattern wheels about the same era.
I was way ahead of the times. lol
