hi, so we are finishing up the 8.8 swap on Dany's Cuda (finally!!)
and like I read on here a while ago the drivshaft (for an 8.25) looks to be the right length.
So we went looking for an adapter joint to adapt the 7260 shaft to the bolt on 8.8 flange.
Bolt on flanges can be had for 3310 and 1330 joints.
I notice in the notes for the Dana 5-788X joint (7260 to 1310) that it says
NOTE: This u-joint should be used at the rear of a 1310 series driveshaft to connect to a 7260 series Dodge rear end yoke ONLY. The body of this u-joint will not fit a 7260 series slip yoke or driveshaft yoke.
Huh??
NEAPCO makes the same joint, no such warning.
No warning on the 7260 to 1330 joint either.
Anyone else here used a conversion joint in their 8.8 swap?
If so did you have any issues?
Any advantage to 1310 VS 1330? I would think the smaller 7260 end is the weak link?

It depends on the size of you axle yolk they make 2 different sizes. I went with the 1310 8.8 flang yolk and a 319 u-joint. The 319 is a companion joint that mates the mopar drive shaft to the 1310 flange yolk.

I was really thinking it should be that simple, until I saw the warning on that 788x..
Thsnks guys!!

If I was to change from a 8-3/4 rear to a 8.8, is it just a U-joint change? No difference in driveshaft length, right?
Contemplating.
Tires are very close to quarter already, & wheels I'm interested in have 1/2" more offset, 8.8 is a tad more than 1" narrower.
better gearing, limited slip, & disc brakes add to the appeal.
