I got the kickdown linkage on finally today! I am having problems getting it adjusted correctly. I can't get it to travel forward enough to get the kickdown lever in the forward position. The top lever is hitting the head. I may have to pull it out and bend it a little to clear the head. But it's on and functional. I am gonna have to buy a new clip for the kickdown lever the one I have is a left it needs a right there is no way to get it on in the direction it is made.

I haven't had much time on the forum the last couple weeks. Some of you probably saw my tread on the starter. My new starter when bad already. Also discovered my heater core is leaking. Inside the cab of course lol. I did get my driveshaft back and hooked up this week. But still can't drive it yet Iol.

Dang! You'll get it sorted out. Gotta expect one that's been sitting a while to spit a few problems out at you. Just keep them puppy dogs away from it till you get the antifreeze gone. That stuff is like candy to dogs, but will kill em graveyard dead. :(

Got the starter fixed i decided to just take it apart solder it myself the shipping cost to return it is dang near the cost of the starter. Don't be to harsh on my solder skills haha

That is a racing secret to free up horse power! You don't know that one? :poke::rofl:
Lol nah I just had to pull it back out of the way to adjust on the throttle bracket and cable. I also removed the 1,3,5,7 plug wires to route the kickdown thru there.

I got the starter all fixed up and put back in today. I adjusted the kickdown some more. And for the first time in 18 years the dart moved down the road under its own power. I had made another video with my knockoff gopro, but the battery died and it didn't save lol. But my wife filmed it for me from a distance. I was having some issues with it dying under load, I adjusted on the carb and did better the 2nd and 3rd trip. The last trip I actually took it about 1/2 a mile just to make sure that trans would shift and it did. Still got some bugs to work out but today was a huge win!! Im so happy!

Happy for you! You waited a long time for this moment

Congratulations. You are an inspiration from beginning to end. A little tuning......meh, minor stuff. I like your wife’s attitude. She rocks!

Once I get a better tune I will get you a better burnout lol. This thing is gonna be a ripper! It has so much umf! Leaning into from a dead stop puts me back in the seat and Barks the tires.

Thanks guys I appreciate it!! Oh and by the way the ebrake cable is what was dragging i thought it was my exhaust.

I am SO happy for you. Following your thread with all the work you've put in and now to have it move under it's own power...doesn't get much better than that! Congrats - great job!!

HEY.....wait a minute!?!? No dogs in the pics? WTH? :mob: LOL.....they usually photo bomb you. :D Great job beginning till now...and I know it's not the end.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Yea I put the dogs up I didn't want them running around the car while driving with unknown brakes and everything else lol. They are extremely brave and like to walk right beside the vehicle im in and It always makes me nervous so I took them inside. If you listen closely you can probably hear them barking in the house haha. I heard my oldest son say "after all these years" lol
