How to interact with a police officer(s)

-
That taser mishap was a sad event for all involved. I only saw a short clip but it looks like she got confused . She really pankcked when ghe gun went off ... just like the kid panicked when he got pulled over . But why wasnt her safety on ? And if it was wouldnt she have known it wasnt the taser ?

I would like to know how many unarmed white guys were killed by cops in the last 20 years ? I bet not many .
I noticed years ago how cops were getting bigger ... cars more ominous looking etc . I dont think that is the image you want to "Protect and Serve....."

Not me, cops have a very difficult job. But some of them need to learn how to be nicer and not so quick to judge.
Amen. Most i meet are super rude.

96% of the time you face a cop is because you broke the law. Take your punishment like a man! If you want it to escalate, run your gangster mouth, cops live for what comes next.
Yea! Shooting my *** because they can lie about it.

I try! To bad it is rarely returned when I get pulled over.

Ive met some gems of an officer as in first class!
Most treat me like a wondering dick head and a trust me with a condescending attitude barking orders as it from stone deaf. The endless accusations in open ended comments are you seriously unneeded. I see most of them as “want to be tough guys” and are only tough because they have a badge.

If by some supreme being blessing I win a stupid mega lotto, I have a few cops I’d loved to fatten up there wallet with my overflowing wealth. That list is short.
The others.... LMAO!

I don’t care if you are the king of England-when you are stopped for any infraction-you do as you are told! He will be raised to”hero”status and that reason will be”BLACK RACE”! Nothing more and nothing less!! Plenty of”veterans” that have served! That does not give you a pass!

Yea, as reported he is "calmly" not doing what he is told.
Half the veterans work with are "disabled".
This player reminds me of them.

IMO there’s two kinds of cops, their daddy was a cop so they became one. The other is macho man who likes the power of badge and gun, don’t know the % of either but hope you get the daddy cop when stopped.
One reason they like the gung-ho ex combat Marine

Actually, they like calm "former" Marines, because WE can handle ourselves in a stressful situation. Anything else you'd like to spout off about something you clearly know NOTHING about?

SMDH...

you must be one of the ‘good’ ones. So tell me, why does anyone drift to a certain line of work? Firemen like fire, rescue people like blood and cops like authority. I’ll give them credit, appreciate everything they do but I wouldn’t do their job.

There is a lot of truth to what you say, I was a firefighter for 33 years. And if i were 30 years younger I’d do another 30. The adrenaline rush of fighting fire is second to none!

You get what you deserve? So officer was shot? I don't care who you are. If you can't tell the difference between a taser and a service revolver? You shouldn't have either. Deadly force is only to combat deadly force. The law is more than clear.

"What happened to being innocent until proven guilty"

Tell that to all the black folks who are getting killed for minor offences. Innocent until shot to death.
One question: how many of all these folks “getting killed for minor offences ” followed all commands and didn’t resist or try to flee? not that should equate to a death by cop sentence but actions have consequences sometimes and sometimes those consequences can mean someone dies that shouldn’t. Yes cops need some different training but so does the public. There has to be a meeting in the middle some where.

it’s better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

That is the plight of being a police officer. When a cop makes a mistake it can be devastating. Training will kick in and muscle memory will take over as well and you rely on it to survive, but they are still human and things happen. The radio tells you the guy you have stopped has vehicle issues and a warrant for illegal possession of a weapon. Officers know people who possess illegal weapons usually have one on them. Stress begins there and then he fights and tries to get back into the one place you sure don't want him, in the car where a weapon may be! Stress gets higher and like anyone some handle it better than others and you decide you need to go less lethal. With stress you are now in fight or flight, your body will take the blood and move it to where it's most needed, your heart and organs and that makes yours fingertips and extremities lose feeling to a degree. Now with a loss of the sensitive recognition you grab the wrong weapon and a mistake is made. Until you have been in these situations in the military or police or whatever and after being in a somewhat calm state to someone trying to murder you or threaten you to that degree, it's hard to judge.

This officer will likely go to jail and deservedly so

It was a Glock 19. It doesn’t have a safety. Just a real strong trigger.

A person who loves his job does it well. The problem arises when a person is not a good fit but think they are.

About my typical officer when I’m stopped. Most are at this level in my eyes.
Un-fukin-Beileveable !!!!
He was very professional, courteous and easy going. I’ve met only 4 like that.

And your discounting the white guys that far out number the blacks statistically speaking?

You ether believe the BS on TV and need to do your homework on this or your just a racist yourself perhaps?

WRONG!!!!!
This statistics are readily available. Do your homework and start searching. Whites are killed by far greater numbers than blacks. The problem is, the news doesn’t report it because it doesn’t fit the Narrative being pushed by the media.

As to how many white people killed by cops... 457 in 2020. Vs 241 according to the FBI UCRs. Currently in 2021, it’s 50 whites to 27 black folks killed by cops. Going back to 2017, white people were shot and killed by cops at nearly a 1.8:1 ratio to black people.

Thank you! The above would probably never have done any homework on there own. But if they do, keep on pushing the weeds aside and dig dig dig and then dig some more!

So I guess we should protest and throw a fit, burn and lute because WLM?

I will caution with this, the ratio based on population of each race is much higher for blacks than white, but in terms of sheer numbers, whites are killed more often than any other race

Protest? Sounds great!!! The only station to carry that news might be Fox since the other stations will ignore it because it dose t fit the narrative......

And screw burning down my own town!!!
I can’t fathom why any normal person or group of people would do that! Oh wait!!! Key word....
NORMAL!!!

True. Did you stop digging at this?
It gets amazing. Truly Freakin amazing.

All the good ole boys from yester year are retiring or long retired.
So what we are left with is a few bald headed thugs suffering from PTSD.
How do you look in a cops eyes when he's wearing dark sunglasses ?
I will give a cop the same respect they give me.
I always treat them with respect, even the young thugs, until it's time not to.

I will also add there is also data showing families of black people are more likely to win wrongful death lawsuits following such events than families is white people. The payouts are also statistically higher in the dollar amounts too. Draw your own conclusions

My grandfather was a MN State Highway patrol officer for 16 years in the 50s to early 60s. And he never once pulled his revolver in the line of duty. And no. Times are not more dangerous. Statically speaking. I asked. What is different? He said. "Training." Police are now trained to use their weapon more as a tool of control and force. And this was in 1984 when I asked. Now? Its gone mental. In the past 10 years I have been pulled over. Made to lay in the street hands out. With semi auto rifles and pistols pointed at me. Because I somewhat fit some description? And I'm an old suburban white guy. If I was a black guy? I would be scared to death. Something is wrong?
