904 Transmission internals Swap

I have a good 904 transmission behind a slant six in working order. I'm going for a 318 swap and need a V8 transmission.

Is it possible to swap over all the /6 transmission's internals to a small block - 904 housing? Both are 904's right?

Just wanted to check if this could work and if anyone else has done it before. Thanks
