How to interact with a police officer(s)

-
Agreed, but, someone out there will bend the facts into there corner and divide the regular normal American into sub tribes for the sole purpose to meet there agenda (what ever the flavor of the days agenda is....) which only leads to crippling effects through out the land.

IDGAF what you consider yourself on any level, everyone gets a shot to be themselves and is given a certain amount of respect in hopes I’m dealing with a human being that I only pray is a nice person with decent values. It’s a dammmmmm shame there are so many that don’t want to give you a chance based on something there taught to hate and they never even know why for sure they hate other than the teachings of there parents and neighbors and yes, I have even was even told by a guy, his pastor told him so, so it has to be true.

My grandfather was a MN State Highway patrol officer for 16 years in the 50s to early 60s. And he never once pulled his revolver in the line of duty. And no. Times are not more dangerous. Statically speaking. I asked. What is different? He said. "Training." Police are now trained to use their weapon more as a tool of control and force. And this was in 1984 when I asked. Now? Its gone mental. In the past 2 years I have been pulled over. Made to lay in the street hands out. With semi auto rifles and pistols pointed at me. Because I somewhat fit some description? And I'm an old suburban white guy. If I was a black guy? I would be scared to death. Something is wrong?
Skin color aside, you shouldn’t be scared, you should be freaking terrified! It’s the new nature of the beast!

Let me preface this first; I've had 3 dui's, several drug charges, ATF & FED raid for counterfeit money, several warrant arrest for said above fun things...So from experience, when I am not respectful;
No respect is given.
When I don't cooperate; well let's just say I've gotten a whoopin (several times)
[Best whoopin; handcuffed & talking **** to border Patrol @ the Washington state / Canada border....picked up and thrown into a row of armed chairs bolted to the floor.]
9.5 years clean & sober, things are very different. My father actually told me how to act when stopped by police.... Well I forgot.
I love the police for what they do for all of us, I do realize theyre humans & make mistakes.
I do not subscribe to defund the police
I do not buy "all people of color are profiled & harrased by police
And especially don't buy that me being white am somehow priveledged to not have any problems with the law.
Act how ya act & ya get what ya get.
Long live law & order (not the f'n show)

I had the lay on the ground hands out...because I didnt want to pull over & go back to jail which I had just been released from 8 hours before. It was dark & a lighter fell out of the car as I was getting out, that made it worse. I went back to jail

THIS IS PRETTY GOD DAMNED DIFFICULT because around here cops like to stand behind the driver's window so they can look in at an angle without you being able to see what THEY are doing. This ALSO makes it difficult to hear WTF they want.
What do you think about Idaho State Bulls.
I think they are the cream of the crop, very respectful and professional.

Nicest state trooper was in Nevada.
Dude gave me a $90.00 speeding ticket & said you had better hurry if you want to beat the blizzard expected in a couple hours.
But my Washington state patrol are very good as well

I had a more checkered pass too. (Well that's what my sisters say. I say "Colorful.") But that's when I was a teenager/young adult. Once jail turned into prison? Then I stopped alot of the foolishness. I've done ok sence. But me and my one sister were little *****. Far worse than either of our kids dared. I grew up to be an IT security analyst. She is a crime analyst for the same Brooklyn Park city where much of the Minnesota mayhem is occurring. Our kids couldn't get away with nothing. Surprising how what went around? Comes around? Just hopefully in a more positive light? In my case? Luckily true. Lost many of friends who I grew up with to the streets of bad choices.

I'm glad you made it out a success...
I'm glad for all of the crap I went through, I'm a better person now for sure because of it. Still haven't figured out to be financially successful but in my heart I have all I need

Yeah. I haven't got that part down myself. I want to retire here early. But my banker keeps saying. "Not with your management skills?" My Fantasy was to travel the country with 2 cars and drag race some of the tracks here that are still alive? But turns out that is a "Laughable fantacy." I guess I'm still missing a couple 0s in the cookie jar?

Atleast you have a banker lol

I will not read the entire thread! Pretty damn simple to me and enough said!

As to how many white people killed by cops... 457 in 2020. Vs 241 according to the FBI UCRs. Currently in 2021, it’s 50 whites to 27 black folks killed by cops. Going back to 2017, white people were shot and killed by cops at nearly a 1.8:1 ratio to black people.

Whoa !!! You are saying 698 unarmed people were shot by cops ?
Nuff said... there is a problem .

0.00015 % of the population, oh yeah that's a real problem. Not a very big 1 as the math shows

The UCR data doesn’t say if armed or unarmed. But the rest of your point is noted

Here is case law why I believe the officer that pulled the Army LT from the car will get his job back.

Pennsylvania v. Mimms, 434 U.S. 106 (1977)

First rule of thumb ,''always'' tell the officer u have loaded weapon , and where it`s at , and that u are licensed to carry it , keep ur hands away from it , untill told to do otherwise .
My conc. carry class even said to tell him/her about it if u got w/in 10 feet of them . And I have done so more than once .

you must be one of the ‘good’ ones. So tell me, why does anyone drift to a certain line of work? Firemen like fire, rescue people like blood and cops like authority. I’ll give them credit, appreciate everything they do but I wouldn’t do their job.

Wrong , the cop in my family got into it because my dad ,''her grandpaw'' was murdered , she never got to meet or see him .
She wanted to help keep things right for most folks , and do her part .
Some of u people on here dont know s--- about what ur spouting off about !

Disagree w/ this too, people are meaner now than when I was running around in the 60`s and up.

Yeah , but every dam one of them had something to hide and didnt respect the cops , or do what they are told .'WHAT PART OF STAY IN THE CAR, OR PUT UR HANDS BEHIND UR HEAD , DO U NOT UNDERSTAND . Are they that dam dumb !!??

Like I said earlier, better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Besides, these dumbasses almost always have lengthy, violent criminal records and they know they’ll just be released in a matter of days so why put up a fight?

How about you tell me why you assume you know the intentions of others when you clearly have NO clue? Takes all kinds of people to all kinds of jobs.

1. My friend the fireman, a former Marine. doesn't like fire, he likes the job which includes saving lives in his community and standing up for something.

2. My friends who are cops, a few former military, a few cops before the military, aren't in it for authority, see #1.

3. I don't know any EMT's within the last few years, but I'm pretty sure they don't do the work because they like blood. What the **** is wrong with you to think that? You some sort of serial killer?

it's often the case we project our own thoughts onto others, maybe you think in the ways you assume others do, if that's true, I feel sorry for you....

get some help...

Some cops abuse their power and authority. If In doubt say YES SIR at the beginning of every sentence . I once was stopped for passing by where a cop was sitting at a 100 mph wide open. Because of my extreme *** kissing I walked. It didn’t hurt that he also had a hot Mopar.
