I am staying with my theory of vinyl top stripped off then recently painted black.
Look how shiny the black top is compared to the scratched up faded out factory butterscotch color of the main body, suggesting the recent painting of the top.
You might take a close look at the chrome rear window trim to see if there are any auto body sand paper scratches in the chrome trim, or DA swirl scratches from where a DA sander bumped into it during paint prep work.
Under masking of the window trim with black paint running up on it is another telltail sign of a repaint.
